Moss-Scapes ( 1998 ) My view For many years I was chasing awards. I felt good to
recieve so many national and international ones. While searching for my
Moss-scapes, I was also searching for an individual style. Sometimes a
lush carpet of vibrant green, sometimes a surreal image of harsh
beauty, sometimes dry, bleak and mottled, the Moss has many moods -
"and I am fascinated by all of them". The Moss-scapes will speak in
different voices to different viewers. For we all bring our own search
to the experience of "seeing and understanding". But there is no
escaping that particular voice which shatters once and for all the myth
of the ordinary.
The wonder of design - of Lines, Forms, Textures,
Light- this is what I want to communicate through my
Moss-scapes. ___________________
Searching
for meaning in a mundane patch of green is what photographer Sham
Manchekar has set out to do in his 3rd oneman show. He has tried to
discover abstract and mysterios beauty in a humdrum, flowerless
vegetations called Moss. Manchekar's quest is an unusual
one.
